1968 he joined the band of Jazz icon Miles Davis, where he replaced Herbie Hancock and went on to play on the legendary Bitches Brew. After some time as a pianist on tour with other musicians, he released his first two solo albums in 19, which established him as a Jazz musician. In the 60s Chick Corea studied in New York at the renowned Juilliard School and the Columbia University, where he also played in a number of Latin-Jazz bands. His influences came from composers such as Beethoven and Mozart, but also from Jazz musicians. Born in 1941 as Armando Anthony Corea on the US east coast, the road was paved when Corea was a four year old boy and decided he wanted to play the piano. His compositions from Classic to Jazz Rock gave Chick Corea his status as one of the most influential musicians and composers of the second half of the twentieth century. Collaborations, style-forming projects and new musical frontiers with legendary musicians like Miles Davis, John McLaughlin, Dave Weckl or the London Philharmonic Orchestra show his versatility. On piano and on keyboard his musical life encompasses a journey from Jazz, Free Jazz and Fusion to classical music and back. Chick Coreas is one of the most versatile pianists of our time.
